Tourism & Hospitality Jobs

New Zealand

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work and travel in New Zealand? Our program offers a unique chance to arrive with a pre-arranged job and housing so you can hit the ground running and start earning money right away.

With hundreds of partner companies throughout the country, we’ll find the perfect job for you in the hotel, tourism, restaurant, sports or event industries. And the best part? You’ll be working during the peak seasons, so you can earn the most money and then travel during the quieter shoulder seasons when there are fewer tourists and more availability.

We offer jobs for all levels of experience and background, from guest services to culinary and kitchen work, lifeguarding, gondola operations, front desk, golf course operations, and cleaning. Plus, our placements are in some of the most incredible locations in New Zealand, including Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, Wanaka, Taupo, Rotorua, Nelson, Northland, The Bay of Islands, and even luxury lodges or campgrounds in stunning beach and mountain locations.

Tou can expect to work between 25 and 40 hours per week, earning $23-$27/hour with flexible part-time or full-time schedules. While you’ll need to be available for work on evenings, weekends, and public holidays, we make sure you have enough time off to explore New Zealand and beyond.

Staff Accommodation is included more remote locations and you can book our homestay or student hostel accommodation in city locations or you can search for your own accommodation with our support if you want to live with locals in a share-flat.

The cost is only $925USD including personal placement supervisor, interview(s), job offer, housing support, airport transfer, 3 nights hostel accommodation on arrival and a welcome orientation where you get to meet other like minded travellers while we set you up with a bank account, tax number and everything else you need to get working in New Zealand.

What are the benefits?2022-04-04T12:25:05+12:00

Many hotel/hostel/campground employers offer discounted food and beverages, which can help you save your money for travelling! Some hotels and campgrounds also allow staff full use of facilities such as tennis courts and swimming pools.

Where will i live?2022-04-04T12:25:34+12:00

Some hotels, campgrounds, and hostels offer staff accommodation, which you will share with up to four others. In this case, your accommodation costs will come out of your wages (including power, water, and gas). Where staff accommodation is not available, we’ll advise you on private homestay or hostel options. Meals are not necessarily included with your accommodation, but you will have the facilities to prepare your own food. Some very remote hotels, which do not provide cooking facilities, will provide three cooked meals per day.

How is my hospitality job selected?2022-04-04T12:25:55+12:00

We carefully select your placement based on factors such as your individual background and experience, your level of English, and your visa status. After you apply for the program you will have a consultation/interview with one of our Placement Supervisors. Once approved in the program we will look for a suitable local organisation for you. You will then have an interview with your potential host organisation, which we organise. Once we’ve found the perfect organisation for you, we’ll send you a placement agreement outlining some key information about your placement, such as your tasks and responsibilities, start and end dates, wage rates, and accommodation options.

How long is my placement?2022-04-04T12:27:11+12:00

You must commit to the full season (summer is typically Sep/Oct – Apr/May). As we work with over 50 partners, some start dates and end dates may differ slightly. If these dates are not possible for you, please let us know and we’ll check for alternative openings.

How much do I earn and what are my hours of work?2022-04-04T12:27:27+12:00

Your wages will be at least minimum wage, which is approximately NZ$20 before tax. Your hours of work will depend on your employer, but you’re likely to work between 20-40 hours per week, for the entire summer season (October-April). There will be busier periods during the school holidays (between Christmas and mid-Feb, and at Easter). You’ll need to be available to work on weekends and public holidays, and during the evenings, as these are key tourism times.

What job can i get?2022-04-04T12:27:50+12:00

We offers a wide variety of entry-level hospitality and tourism jobs. These include guest services, food and beverage service, culinary/kitchen jobs, cleaning, and hotel operations roles. We also offer more specific roles for those with relevant experience, in fields such as lifeguarding, golf caddying, and luxury lodge operations. We make sure we’ve found the perfect job for you, ensuring it matches your experience, education, level of English, work visa status, and ability to stay a full season.

Where will i work?2022-04-04T12:28:06+12:00

You’ll be placed in a hospitality or tourism organisation. This may be working in a hotel, a campground, an activity provider, a rental car company, a restaurant, an event centre, or a luxury lodge. Most jobs are in tourist towns or remote tourism destinations, across the most beautiful parts of New Zealand, in both the North and South Islands. If you already have extensive experience in the sector, placements may also be available for you in Auckland.
